Nel’s Laboratories, Inc. is a manufacturer of quality specialty skin care products. Established in 1985, Nel’s Laboratories, Inc. was the first United States Company to develop an over the counter skin preparation for the condition more commonly known as ingrown hairs, or razor bumps. The founder Mr. Leon Burgess, a Bio-Chemist, with more than 35 years experience in pharmaceutical and cosmetic research and development developed and patented his original product formulation and called it Smoother Skin Cream. The very effective formula alleviates the affliction, scientifically known as pseudo folliculitis barbae, more commonly known as razor bumps.The original patented formulation  was clinically tested and proven to be 98% effective in alleviating  ingrown hairs, razor bumps, skin bumps, irritation, skin burn, and mild acne symptoms associated with razor shaving, and other hair removal methods.  Mr. Burgess dispelled the myth through clinical research and testing, that shaving with a razor caused bumps.  A common belief in this myth resulted in many people using a depilatory, or painful methods of hair removal on both the face and body in an attempt to prevent the formation of ugly inflamed ingrown hairs, skin bumps, and irritation.  Mr. Burgess also dispelled the myth that the razor bump condition was one suffered only by African American males that shaved with razors. A six-month clinical study showed that both women and non African American participants who suffered from moderate to severe pseudo folliculitis barbae, pimples, and other skin bumps on their face and bodies, and used the Smoother Skin Cream product said they saw improved results in 2 to 3 days, with 98% of the participants expressing a noticeable improvement in the condition of their skin.  After the launch of the Smoother Skin Cream to the market, men and women now had a product that addressed their razor bump, and irritation symptoms like none other.

 

Today, the market place has several products that claim to do what Nel’s Smoother Skin was FIRST to claim, but their formulations are very different.  Nel’s Laboratories, Inc. products work at a bio-chemical level on the skin, and inside the hair follicle. These products DO NOT contain stearate esters. The patent’s research showed that stearate esters remove zinc out the skin.  Zinc is a very necessary mineral that the skin needs to be healthy. Removing zinc from the skin will leave it vulnerable to the conditions that promote bump formation, acne, rashes, premature aging, and the skin’s delicate moisture balance (which can lead to symptoms like eczema). With a combination of other ingredients that exfoliate, evens skin tone, softens, heals and strengthens the skin, , Nel’s products also contain ingredients that eliminate two common skin bacteria that are associated with the cause of acne,  all in  pH balanced formulations are unique and very effective.

 

While most products focus on the cosmetic quality of softening or drying out the skin, Smoother Skin Cream focuses on the source of the problem in the hair follicle under the skin. The clinical research suggest that reducing, restricting or eliminating certain foods (always with your physicians permission only ) that contain triglycerides may be helpful  to some with acute diagnosis of various skin bump conditions.
